Help Unlock the Potential in Every Child – Right in Your Community

We Need You

Take an active interest in educating and cultivating the next generation of engineers and scientists by volunteering with SAE’s STEM programs.

  • Volunteer as judges and coordinators at F1 in Schools™ and A World In Motion® (AWIM) events or in technical and non-technical roles at SAE’s Collegiate Design Series™ competitions.
  • Serve as an in-classroom volunteer in an AWIM classroom. For a short-term, flexible time commitment, you will help make learning fun, help students discover the exciting application of science and math principles, and share information about rewarding careers in your chosen profession.

Vince Bandurski started his career path by attending the General Motors Institute (now known as Kettering University) and went on to later work as an executive director at General Motors until his retirement in 2003.

Wanting to share his 40+ years of experience, he is an exemplary volunteer for SAE and the SAE Foundation.

"I volunteer in both the AWIM and CDS programs locally, and have for the past several years, and am most energized by the excitement, creativity, motivation and feelings of accomplishment the students demonstrate, while learning STEM principles. These students are our future. It continues to be a very worthwhile and satisfying experience."

Recruiting is another way that Vince strives to help SAE in their mission. As an active retiree himself, he is always talking to other retirees about participating with the programs. “Once you see it, it kindles a fire and you want to participate.”
